Great for kids or adults. I laminated mine for my grandkids so they will last a lot longer.
This is an excellent learning tool ! I'm in the process of learning where the notes are on the staff. Some people are complaining about them not coming in a box. I've been storing mine in a plastic pencil box. it is also easy to put 30 of them in a regular envelope to take with you . I do that with the notes and interval cards. Another option is to store the cards in a file box for 4x6" index cards( the music flash cards that measure 4x5.25" fit in there too!) In fact both sets that I have fit together in the pencil box! These are excellent flash cards. In my opinion, memorizing the notes on the treble and bass clef is the first major hurdle to learning how to play the piano. While I work with the white cards, it helps me to cover the clef with my thumb because I'm mostly interested in memorizing the position on the staff without needing to see the clef directly to the left of the note. For me, having the clef visible directly to the left of the note creates an unrealistic mnemonic device. I would have rated these 5 stars if the clef were located on the top/bottom, away from the staff. Nice quality card stock and good size. I use rubber bands to hold them together in the sleeve.
I got these to help supplement my 5 year old in piano. He can read music, but with the break over the summer had forgotten a few notes. These flash cards are good quality, if you laminate them they will last forever. The box includes lots of different notes, and they came highly recommended by my son's piano teacher.
I have been a private music teacher for 30 plus years. As most instructors know, every student is different in so many ways. That being said, when I have the student that manages to "learn ways to read music" that do not include actually reading the notes on the staff...the note cards in this packet of cards helps tremendously! They not only show a picture of a gin note on either the treble or bass staff, but on the flip side they show the student where to locate the note on the piano - invaluable. I take a few minutes out of our 30 minute lesson time for the students that struggle with their note reading and we play a little find this note on the piano game until they just know right where to go and now you have a student that reads music.The symbols are easy to drill a few time and most students pick up on those quickly. The rhythm cards are good for clapping or stomping drills - the younger students love to stomp :)
This was a perfect gift to my 6 year old granddaughter who has been taking lessons for about 6 months. She needs to strengthen her sight reading of music she is playing. This will help her associate the written note with the name of the note. Has additional music skills available. The cards are of good quality.
