No index, no table of contents, no A - Z search. Just a list. Impossible to navigate.
I purchased it on my Kindle. I thought by the way I did my search that this would be a dictionary that would pop up as an option when looking something up while I was reading. But that was not the case. You have to close your book and then open up the dictionary. This sort of defeats the purpose of my purchase so hardly ever use it.
The very first easy idiom I thought of to look up wan't there. Very disappointing. With my other idiom books I find that even some of the most common and popular idioms are missing ONCE IN A WHILE, but I thought that for sure with this book which claims to be the most thorough in the whole world it would surely be there. The idiom I searched for was "once in a while" and...it's not there! It is on their website so I'm confused, do they not gather all of these from their website (thefreedictionary.com)? If not, why not? And if so, how did you miss this one or why did you decide not to include such a common idiom? It worries me that if this very first idiom that I searched for isn't there, how many more are missing, and what good is it to have 17,000+ if idioms like "once in a while" aren't included? Is there any idiom dictionary out there that I can feel confident has all the simplest idioms included?! (I don't really hate the book, but I'm seriously upset that this one lacks something so obvious with the claims they make, thus the one star). Farlex, my friends,...Please worry less about the obscure idioms that so few people learning English would care about, like "Nantucket sleigh ride" and "Every eel hopes to become a whale" (of which I never have and probably never will hear either), and make sure you're taking care to include the most useful, I would love to rely on this single book as a one-stop-shop for the work I'm doing... (just lookup up "One Stop Shop" and it's not there either, though it is on your website. Unfortunately it isn't possible to see the entire list of idioms on your website. I would much rather find a book that has 3000 idioms that are actually useful and great for English learners, than find a 17,000 idiom book that takes pride in having "most" of the useful, but tons of the archaic and esoteric.Also the search function takes forever, to the point that it's unusable for me (but I figure this may be a Kindle issue and not the fault of Farlex.P.S. As you can see from the pictures, I did also try looking under "(every) once in a while", but no.P.P.S. If anyone knows of a book with an extensive and complete list of the most useful idioms would you please make a comment after mine and include it, I'd definitely appreciate it!

a good reference. slang & idioms dictionaries (phrasal verbs too) are a invaluable resource for non-native speakers. translation of literary texts (and lyrics) is helped by this wonderful dictionary.
Just wish there were more “originsâ€
This is a must for writers. You can build a character with odd idioms and slang. loved it.
